The 23rd of October 2011 was a good day for my family. I brought my wife and newborn child home from hospital. However, in the night, I felt numbness on my left side of the body. I informed my wife about it and we immediately looked for a taxi to take me to hospital. When we arrived at the hospital, I was examined and informed that I had suffered a mild stroke. I was shocked. I had always imagined that strokes affected people who are overweight and physically unfit. I was informed that my problem was due to high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels. I was admitted for four days during which time I decided on the need to raise awareness on NCDs.
